"Step into the world of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, where magic and fantasy, legend and reality intertwine." So writes Florence Müller, and so unfolds an exhibition that has become nothing less than a cultural phenomenon. After captivating Milan, Paris, and Rome—each city extending its run to meet overwhelming demand—From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce & Gabbana has made its long-awaited American debut at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, within the museum's expanded Design District footprint.

Curated by Müller—whose landmark retrospectives on Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior bring both scholarly rigor and poetic nuance—the exhibition traverses more than 300 pieces spanning archival treasures and new creations. The title is literal: ideas originate in the imagination, the "heart," and are realized through the meticulous labor of artisans, the "hands." Each theatrical room reveals a different facet of this alchemy, from intricate embroidery to sculptural tailoring, drawing from Italy's rich tapestry of art, architecture, folklore, and opera.

Since founding their house in 1984, Dolce and Gabbana have cultivated a universe where Italian identity is both muse and medium—a collision of sacred and profane, baroque heritage and cinematic irreverence. Contemporary artists Quayola and Obvious enter into dialogue with the garments, forging a living conversation between tradition and technology, craft and concept. Designed by Agence Galuchat and produced by IMG, the exhibition is less a static display than an immersive narrative environment.

Installed in ICA Miami's newly acquired second site, the exhibition resonates with the city's layered identities—its color, diversity, and appetite for spectacle. It is not merely an exhibition but an experience that lingers long after the final room, like the echo of a perfectly staged opera or the memory of a beautifully told story.
